Senior Manager Data & Intelligence

    • Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands
  • Data & Analytics

Job description

We are Vandebron

Our journey began in 2014 with Chapter 1 of the energy transition, in which we set out to disrupt the market and increase transparency by connecting consumers directly with local green energy producers.

Now, in Chapter 2, we are fully committed to making 100% green energy available, 100% of the time. Think smart solutions—flexible utilisation of wind and solar farms, smart charging for electric vehicles, and efficient energy storage. We don't sit around and wait; we actively drive a sustainable future with a healthy touch of rebellion.

Green energy, smart solutions- that is Vandebron.

Where you'll land

We are building a data & intelligence capability that turns our data platform into a competitive advantage, and we are hiring the leader who will drive it. You lead the data teams - either directly or via a team lead- and you steer the layer that our consumer domain runs on: Customer 360, Marketing Automation, the models that predict churn and value, and the reporting every department trusts.

You report to the Director of Technology and work alongside the data platform as a key stakeholder: they anchor the platform eg. the lakehouse, warehouse, orchestration and governance and you run the intelligence built on top of it. This is a build-and-lead role, not a maintain role.

You are not inheriting a fully formed team and operating it but you are maturing the data & intelligence function from its current shape into a scaled, trusted capability: the team model, the service model, the standards and the culture of data-informed and AI-empowered decisions across the business.

What you will do

  • Drive the data & intelligence strategy and translate it into a roadmap and represent it to leadership peers.

  • Be the proactive connector between data and the rest of the business. You find where intelligence creates value and bring it to the teams that need it.

  • Tie intelligence to business outcomes. You do this in close synchronisation with Product, ensuring our intelligence tightly integrates the broader customer experience.

  • Define the team structure, the service model, data ownership and the standards that let it scale as the business grows.

  • Collaborate with the Data Platform team to implement a shift-left data governance strategy, ensuring clear data ownership and contracts that guarantee the accuracy and consistency of data.

  • Bring AI forward where it serves the customer and our colleagues. Think of agentic decisioning, LLM-assisted analytics, Cortex or the Claude API.

  • Raise data literacy across the business: make self-serve analytics genuinely usable and build a culture where decisions start from the data.

  • Lead analytics engineers, scientists and analysts; raise the bar for testing, documentation and craftsmanship.

Job requirements

What you bring

  • 7 or more years in analytics, data science, or BI roles, including meaningful experience leading and building a function, maturing a data team. From ad hoc to structured, or from reactive to strategic.

  • A strong quantitative and analytical foundation. You can go deep enough to earn the trust of your data scientists and challenge their assumptions.

  • Deep, hands-on grasp of the modern data stack: warehouse modelling, dbt, and turning data into decisions that reach the customer.

  • A track record of shipping customer intelligence that changed behaviour: segmentation, lifetime value, churn, next-best-action.

  • You hold your own with commercial and leadership peers, translate data into decisions at the top table, and influence without a reporting line.

  • A pragmatic grip on data governance, privacy and GDPR in a regulated, customer-data-heavy environment.

What we offer

  • An annual bonus based on company performance.

  • 30 paid vacation days per year to recharge and get inspired.

  • Two extra days off: 1 for religious celebrations and 1 volunteer day.

  • The option to work from abroad for up to 6 weeks per year (maximum of 4 consecutive weeks, including up to 4 weeks outside the EU).

  • An annual learning budget of €1200 and access to internal Learning & Development workshops.

  • Unlimited access to the mental health platform OpenUp.

  • A solid pension scheme to plan for your future.

  • A net monthly allowance of €30 for internet costs and €20 for phone costs.

  • A one-time net allowance of €200 to set up a comfortable home office.

  • A flexible hybrid working environment, splitting time between your home and our CO2-neutral office in Amsterdam.

  • Daily healthy lunches prepared by our own in-house chefs.

  • An NS Business Card if you travel 10 km or more to the office.
