Manager Market Operations

    • Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands
  • Customer Operations

Job description

Who we are

At Vandebron, we're transforming the energy landscape, steering away from the conventional to champion sustainability. Born in 2014, our journey began with Chapter 1, disrupting the market with a transparent platform connecting consumers directly to local, green energy producers. Now, in Chapter 2, we are dedicated to ensuring 100% green energy availability, 100% of the time. Think smart solutions: flexible use of wind and solar farms, Smart EV Charging, and efficient energy storage.

No waiting around, we actively shape a sustainable future. Good energy, smart solutions: that's Vandebron.

Your impact

As our Manager Market Operations, you are the driving force behind the specialized, dedicated team that keeps our complex market processes running smoothly, protecting our daily customer traffic.

You're the bridge between great people management, operational excellence, and tech innovation. On one hand, you own the "run": making sure our day-to-day energy market processes are stable and compliant. On the other hand, you lead the "change": teaming up with Customer Operations, Product, Tech, and Data to automate workflows and seamlessly roll out new market regulations. You will build a team culture where people take ownership and perform at their best, ensuring that complex, regulated market demands never slow down Vandebron's speed or customer experience.

In this job, you’ll be reporting directly to Niels Haverkort, Director Operations.

What you’ll do

  • Lead and coach: Manage and improve our Market Operations & Backoffice team. You'll run engaging team meetings and 1-on-1s to keep the team motivated and quality high.

  • Keep things running smoothly: Monitor the performance of our critical (market) processes, from meter data to switch success.

  • Be the go-to problem solver: Act as the main escalation point for complex, cross-departmental market cases that need a clear head and a quick resolution.

  • Translate the rules: Turn complex legislative and market changes into practical processes, making sure your team is fully up to speed.

  • Team up with Tech & Data: Work closely with our tech departments to automate and continuously improve market processes in our systems.

  • Represent Vandebron: Join industry meetings (like EDSN or grid operators) alongside our Energy Market Operations Specialist to make sure our voice is heard.

  • Grow the team: Play an active role in the recruitment and onboarding of new team members.

What you bring

  • Educational background: HBO/WO level, ideally in Business Administration, Operations, or a technical/energy-related field.

  • Leadership experience: 3+ years in a leadership role within an operational or customer-facing environment (bonus points if it's in the energy sector!).

  • Energy market know-how would be nice: Deep knowledge of energy market processes (think electricity/gas, EDSN, MFF).

  • Change management skills: You know how to implement process, market and legislative changes, and you are familiar with systems like Salesforce, Ecedo or similar tools.

  • The right mindset: You have a people-oriented, coaching leadership style. You are analytical, data-driven, and you know how to connect with others to get things done.

Why join Vandebron?

  • Make a real impact: You get full ownership over a critical unit that balances operational stability with market innovation.

  • A unique mix: This role offers a rare intersection of people management, operational excellence, and technological development that you won't easily find in typical management roles.

  • Accelerate the transition: Play a pivotal role in the energy transition by ensuring Vandebron remains scalable, efficient, and compliant.

A career move that matters

  • Master complex challenges: In your first year, you'll tackle the strategic integration of new legislative updates while actively reducing manual errors through tech automation.

  • Build a benchmark team: You'll create a high-performing, engaged, and autonomous team culture.

  • See the results: You'll look back at measurable improvements in market process KPIs and successfully delivered automation initiatives alongside our Product teams.

What’s in it for you

  • A salary, based on experience, ranging between €4.800 and €6.200,- gross per month, based on 40 hours, excluding holiday allowance.

  • An annual bonus based on company performance.

  • 30 days of paid leave per year.

  • Additional paid time off, for life events (moving, wedding celebrations, enhanced parental leave), Liberation Day off every year and on top of that 2 extra days off per year: one for volunteering, one for choosing sustainable travel.

  • Work abroad for up to 6 weeks per year (max. 4 consecutive, including up to 4 weeks outside the EU).

  • A possibility to have a sabbatical after 3 years.

  • €1,200 annual learning budget + unlimited access to L&D programs.

  • Strong focus on your well-being, with unlimited access to the mental health platform OpenUp.

  • A solid pension scheme.

  • €50 net allowance per month for phone & WiFi.

  • A one-time €200 home office setup budget.

  • Discount on your Vandebron invoice.

  • A flexible hybrid setup between home and our carbon-neutral Amsterdam office.

  • Daily free, healthy, vegetarian lunches cooked in-house.

  • An NS Business Card if you live 10km+ from the office.

  • 32-40 hours per week.
