Job description

Who we are

At Vandebron, we're transforming the energy landscape, steering away from the conventional to champion sustainability. Born in 2014, our journey began with Chapter 1, disrupting the market with a transparent platform connecting consumers directly to local, green energy producers.

Now, in Chapter 2, we are dedicated to ensuring 100% green energy availability - 100% of the time. Think smart solutions - flexible use of wind and solar farms, Smart EV Charging, and efficient energy storage. No waiting around - we actively shape a sustainable future.

Good energy, smart solutions - that’s Vandebron.

Your impact

As a React Developer, you play a crucial role in strengthening the heart of Vandebron’s marketplace: our energy producers. You’ll take ownership of the front-end development of a brand-new producer engagement platform - the primary digital touchpoint for our producers. This platform will provide radical transparency, meaningful data insights, and intuitive tools that help producers stay connected to Vandebron and actively participate in the energy transition.

Working closely with engineers, designers, and product stakeholders, you’ll turn complex requirements into elegant, scalable solutions - ensuring a high-quality user experience and a future-proof codebase.

In this role, you’ll be reporting to Aviv Hasson, Engineering Team Lead.

What you’ll do

  • Build the new Producer Platform by taking a leading role in front-end development, from early concepts to a production-ready, scalable React application.

  • Develop and maintain high-quality products, ensuring performance, reliability, and long-term maintainability.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with software engineers, designers, and product stakeholders to solve complex technical and product challenges.

  • Review code across the Digital team, contributing to a high standard of code quality and shared best practices.

  • Share knowledge actively through our Guilds structure, helping raise the overall engineering bar across Vandebron.

  • Mentor junior developers through code reviews, technical discussions, and occasional check-ins.

  • Drive your own growth, working closely with your manager to shape your technical and professional development.

What you bring

  • 4+ years of experience as a React software engineer, with a strong foundation in modern web development.

  • A strong product mindset - you care about the end-user experience and enjoy building products from scratch.

  • Experience working with TypeScript in a production environment.

  • Familiarity with testing frameworks and methodologies, ensuring reliable and robust software.

  • A curiosity-driven mindset - you enjoy learning, improving, and staying up to date with new technologies.

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, enabling you to work effectively across disciplines.

  • Bonus points if you have experience with React Native and/or back-end development (for example with Scala/Kotlin).

Why this role is a meaningful career move

This role puts you at the center of a high-impact product that directly supports the producers powering the energy transition.

You’ll help shape a platform that gives producers more insight, control, and connection - while working in a scale-up environment where engineering quality, product thinking, and societal impact go hand in hand. You’ll have real ownership, technical influence, and the space to grow.

What you’ll learn

  • How to build and scale a mission-critical product from the ground up.

  • How to work within a modern tech stack combining React, TypeScript, and Scala-based APIs.

  • How to balance technical excellence with fast-moving product development in a scale-up.

  • How to collaborate across teams to turn complex energy-domain challenges into intuitive digital solutions.

What success looks like after your first 6–12 months

  • A stable, scalable Producer Platform that is widely used and trusted by our producers.

  • A codebase that is clean, well-tested, and easy for the team to extend.

  • Strong collaboration with fellow engineers, product, and design.

  • Recognition as a go-to developer who combines technical depth with product thinking.

What’s in it for you

  • A nice salary, based on your experience, of maximum €5,000.- gross per month, excluding holiday allowance, based on 40 hours per week.

  • An annual bonus based on company performance.

  • 30 paid days off per year to recharge and find inspiration.

  • Work abroad for up to 6 weeks per year (max 4 consecutive weeks, including up to 4 weeks outside the EU).

  • A sabbatical opportunity for employees with three years of service (one month paid with holidays, two unpaid).

  • Special leave for significant personal events, volunteering, and an additional day for religious or personal celebrations.

  • An annual €850 learning budget, plus access to Learning & Development workshops and programs.

  • A pension scheme to plan for the future.

  • A monthly €50 net allowance for your phone and Wi-Fi.

  • A one-time €200 net allowance to create a comfortable home workspace.

  • A flexible hybrid setup - split your time between our carbon-neutral Amsterdam office and home.

  • Daily healthy, warm and vegetarian lunches prepared by our in-house cooks.

  • An NS business card if you live 10km or more from the office.
