  • Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands
Finance & Control

Job description

Are you a detail-oriented and analytical finance professional with a passion for sustainability? As a Financial Controller at Vandebron, you'll play a key role in ensuring accurate and reliable financial information, enabling our management team to make strategic decisions that drive our mission forward.

Who we are

At Vandebron, we're transforming the energy landscape, steering away from the conventional to champion sustainability. Born in 2014, our journey began with Chapter 1, disrupting the market with a transparent platform connecting consumers directly to local, green energy producers. Now, in Chapter 2, we are dedicated to ensuring 100% green energy availability, 100% of the time. Think smart solutions — flexible use of wind and solar farms, Smart EV Charging, and efficient energy storage.

No waiting around, we actively shape a sustainable future. Good energy, smart solutions — that's Vandebron.

Your impact

You'll provide reliable financial information that is used by the business in navigating the complex energy market. Your work will help bring new solutions to life, directly impacting the energy transition and driving us closer to our mission.

You'll face challenges like complex data reports that require a strong data-driven mindset and the ability to understand intricate formulas and coding. The fast-paced and ever-changing energy market means new initiatives often arise quickly, so you'll need to stay in control and adapt swiftly. You'll use your seniority and expertise in data and systems to help the team continuously improve and work together effectively.

What you’ll do

  • Financial reporting: conduct month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings with other Financial Control colleagues, ensuring compliance with IFRS.

  • Revenue and cost accountability: ensure accurate and complete accounting for revenue, COGS, and gross margin in Vandebron’s producer P&L.

  • Data verification: perform controls on data-intensive reports used for gross margin accountability.

  • Analysis: analyze financial results in the producer P&L, explaining variances compared to forecast.

  • Process improvement: advise on financial processes and new initiatives within Vandebron.

Who you will work with

You'll join Financial Controllers Kegan, Michela, and Raquel, and Team Manager Siena in a young and dynamic team that values mutual support, collective problem-solving, and having fun together. You'll also collaborate with the broader finance team, including FinOps, Finance Process Specialists, Business Controllers, and Financial Analysts. You can expect interactions with the Finance department of our parent company Essent.

What you bring

  • 5-8 years of experience in audit, controlling, or a data-driven finance role.

  • Experience with internal control and month-end closings.

  • Experience with SQL and/or a data-driven approach to solving problems.

  • Familiarity with digital ERP systems and applications (we use Microsoft Dynamics / Business Central, Salesforce, and Ecedo).

  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, eagerness to learn, and ability to quickly master new information.

  • Team player with good communication skills.

  • Flexibility and ability to move quickly in a dynamic environment.

  • Passion for Vandebron’s mission.

What’s in it for you

  • To work towards our mission with a good dose of energy, we offer you 30 paid days off per year.

  • Work abroad for up to 6 weeks per year (max 4 consecutive weeks, including up to 4 weeks outside the EU).

  • Employees with three years of service can go on a sabbatical for up to three months (one month paid with holidays, two unpaid).

  • Dive into new skills with an annual €850 learning budget, as well as access to Learning & Development workshops and programs.

  • Plan for the future with our solid pension scheme.

  • Stay connected hassle-free with a monthly €50 net reimbursement for your phone and wifi.
