My name is Philipp Katzenstein, and I’ve been working at Vandebron for about a year and a half. I was drawn to Vandebron because of the opportunity to work in the energy markets, especially the trading side, within a company that’s not too big and not too small. Add to that a team full of smart, young, motivated people—and I was sold.

I started as a Product Manager and gradually took on more responsibility, joining the management team for the Producer domain and the broader leadership team of Vandebron. Today, I work as Head of Product, while also focusing on building the Producer Brand & Marketing and driving our long-term strategy. What I really appreciate is that we’ve managed to keep aligned autonomy at the heart of how we work—making decisions locally while staying connected to the bigger picture.

If I compare myself now to when I joined, I’ve definitely integrated the mission into my day-to-day habits. It’s not just something we say—it’s something you live here. One of the achievements I’m proud of is launching the Vandebron Producer LinkedIn page and getting our new website live. But also going live with congestion services is a big one—it shows we can move fast on complex, high-impact topics.

As an expat, working at Vandebron has been great—even if it’s very Dutch sometimes. The culture is super welcoming, and meetings are always in English, even if I’m the only non-Dutch speaker. My tip for other expats: expect a very Dutch working environment, but with a lot of energy and drive.

What motivates me is the mission and the people I work with. There’s a lot of passion in the teams, and everyone brings their A-game. Since I joined, Vandebron has become more structured without losing sight of what really matters, the mission itself of getting to 100% renewable energy ASAP. I see my future here as helping to make sustainable business stay sustainable, so we can continue pushing the mission forward.
