Product Owner Flex
- Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands
- Producer
Job description
Who we are
At Vandebron, we're transforming the energy landscape, steering away from the conventional to champion sustainability. Born in 2014, our journey began with Chapter 1, disrupting the market with a transparent platform connecting consumers directly to local, green energy producers.
Now, in Chapter 2, we are dedicated to ensuring 100% green energy availability - 100% of the time. Think smart solutions - flexible use of wind and solar farms, Smart EV Charging, and efficient energy storage. No waiting around - we actively shape a sustainable future.
Good energy, smart solutions - that’s Vandebron.
Your Impact
The energy grid is changing, and flexibility is the new gold standard. In this role, your impact is measured by how effectively we can turn green assets—like large-scale batteries and co-located setups—into high-performing participants in the energy market.
Reporting to Tim Weelinck (Head of Product), you will own the products that execute our flex trading strategies. By bridging the gap between complex market dynamics and robust software engineering, you ensure our Green Power Platform stays ahead of the curve, maximizing financial performance for our producers while keeping the system rock-solid.
What you’ll do
You’ll be the driving force behind a dedicated team of software developers, turning a high-level vision into a tangible, high-impact roadmap.
You’ll develop and own the roadmap for enabling and executing flexibility monetization, balancing market opportunities with technical feasibility.
You’ll work closely with other Producer Product teams and the Head of Product to ensure our collective "Green Power" strategy is aligned and moving in the same direction.
You’ll define the KPIs that matter. You’ll track performance, enable new trading strategies, and pivot based on real-world insights.
Together with your Team Lead, you’ll slice complex epics into deliverable value, ensuring a healthy balance between business value and system health.
You’ll help elevate our product culture, guiding more junior members of the team and refining our agile way of working.
Job requirements
What you bring
We are looking for someone who speaks the language of both business and "byte." You’re comfortable debating trading strategies one hour and discussing system architecture with developers the next.
You have 4+ years of experience as a Product Owner, specifically within technical or digital product environments.
You have a proven track record of using data to say "no" to the noise so you can say "yes" to the most impactful initiatives.
ou aren't afraid to dive deep into technical concepts. You can weigh technical trade-offs and understand how they impact asset performance and risk.
You can articulate a complex vision to senior stakeholders, creating alignment even when interests vary.
You already have a feel for the energy market and understand how digital products interact with flexibility and trading systems.
Why this is the move to make
This isn't just another PO role. This is an opportunity to sit at the beating heart of the energy transition. Within the first year, you’ll play a key role with impactful releases for hybrid battery projects and enabling new flex strategies on aFRR or congestion markets.
If you want to move away from "feature factory" work and toward a role where your strategy directly affects the stability and profitability of green energy, this is where you belong. You’ll sharpen your understanding of complex market dynamics and help Vandebron—and our producers—lead the charge toward a 100% green future.
What’s in it for you
An annual bonus based on company performance.
30 paid days off per year to recharge and find inspiration.
Work abroad for up to 6 weeks per year (max 4 consecutive weeks, including up to 4 weeks outside the EU).
A sabbatical opportunity for employees with three years of service.
Special leave for significant personal events, volunteering and an additional day for religious or personal celebrations.
An annual €1200 learning budget, plus access to Learning & Development workshops and programs.
A pension scheme to plan for the future.
A monthly €50 net allowance for your phone and Wi-Fi.
A one-time €200 net allowance to create a comfortable home workspace.
A flexible hybrid setup - split your time between our carbon-neutral Amsterdam office and home.
Daily healthy, warm and vegetarian lunches prepared by our in-house cooks.
An NS business card if you live 10km or more from the office.
