- Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands
- Producer
Job description
Who we are
At Vandebron, we're transforming the energy landscape, steering away from the conventional to champion sustainability. Born in 2014, our journey began with Chapter 1, disrupting the market with a transparent platform connecting consumers directly to local, green energy producers.
Now, in Chapter 2, we are dedicated to ensuring 100% green energy availability — 100% of the time. Think smart solutions — flexible use of wind and solar farms, Smart EV Charging, and efficient energy storage. No waiting around — we actively shape a sustainable future.
Good energy, smart solutions — that’s Vandebron.
Your impact
As a Product Developer in our Producer Domain, you’ll help shape the next generation of Trading & Flex Solutions enabling a fully renewable energy system. Energy markets are rapidly shifting — from predictable production to dynamic real-time steering, volatility, and flexibility markets. That shift opens huge opportunities… if we build the right capabilities fast enough.
Your role is to explore those opportunities, validate what matters, and turn ambiguous problem spaces into sharp product direction. You help answer: what should we build next — and why?
You’ll work closely with Product Owners, Analysts, Engineering teams, Traders, and Operational experts to bridge strategy, market developments, and real system behaviour. Your work reduces uncertainty, accelerates decision-making, and ensures Vandebron focuses on scalable, valuable product opportunities.
This role is central to strengthening Vandebron’s competitive position in flexibility markets and plays a direct role in making renewable energy work — not someday, but now.
In this job, you’ll be reporting to Philipp Katzenstein, Head of Product - Energy Services.
What you’ll do
Lead structured product discovery for Trading & Flex initiatives.
Identify, validate, and prioritize new product opportunities across Trading, Flex Operations, and Consumer Flex.
Translate commercial needs, operational constraints, and customer insights into clear problem spaces and product direction.
Support Product Owners in shaping roadmaps with validated evidence — not assumption-driven guesswork.
Align technical and non-technical teams to ensure shared understanding and decision clarity.
Help teams move opportunities from exploration → implementation → measurable results.
Contribute to go-to-market readiness and successful feature launches.
What you bring
Experience in product discovery, product development, or analytics (ideally in energy trading or complex system environments).
Ability to analyze complex product domains and translate data into actionable insights.
Familiarity with flexibility markets, trading algorithms, or portfolio management is a plus — not required, but highly valuable.
Strong documentation skills (Confluence, JIRA).
Comfortable collaborating closely with engineers, analysts, and domain experts.
Strong analytical and conceptual thinking — able to structure complexity.
Comfortable operating in ambiguity and turning it into clarity.
Excellent communication skills for engaging diverse stakeholders.
Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across technical, commercial, and operational domains.
Why this role is a meaningful career move
Trading & Flex Solutions sit at the heart of Vandebron’s ability to integrate renewable energy at scale. In this role, you’ll shape how future trading capabilities, flex steering, and market models evolve — not just for efficiency, but for real climate impact.
You’ll influence decisions that determine how renewable assets are optimized, how flexible capacity is activated, how we manage risk, and ultimately how we accelerate the transition to a fossil-free energy system.
This isn’t just product work — it’s building the infrastructure of tomorrow’s energy system.
What you’ll learn
How flexibility markets work (aFRR, FCR, redispatch, intraday).
How automated trading strategies and forecasting models are developed and validated.
How to run structured discovery within a highly technical and data-heavy environment.
How to create alignment across engineering, product, trading, and operations.
How to translate market signals, performance insights, and operational learnings into scalable product direction.
What success looks like after your first 6–12 months
Completed validated discovery for 2–3 key Trading & Flex initiatives.
Improved alignment between discovery and implementation teams.
Clear documentation and shared insights across teams working on Trading & Flex Solutions.
Validated opportunities successfully incorporated into Product Owner roadmaps.
Visible contribution to flex revenue, improved forecasting/steering performance, or improved activation of producer/consumer flexibility.
What’s in it for you
A nice salary.
An annual bonus based on company performance.
30 paid days off per year to recharge and find inspiration
Work abroad for up to 6 weeks per year (max 4 consecutive weeks, including up to 4 weeks outside the EU).
A sabbatical opportunity for employees with three years of service (one month paid with holidays, two unpaid).
Special leave for significant personal events, and an additional day for religious or personal celebrations.
An annual €850 learning budget, as well as access to Learning & Development workshops and programs.
A pension scheme to plan for the future.
A monthly €50 net allowance for your phone and Wi-Fi.
A one-time €200 net allowance to create a comfortable home workspace.
Split your time between our carbon-neutral Amsterdam office and your home for the perfect work-life balance.
Enjoy daily healthy, warm and vegetarian lunches prepared by our in-house cooks.
For those living 10km or more from the office, hop on board with an NS business card for smooth commuting.
