Job description

Who we are

At Vandebron, we're transforming the energy landscape, steering away from the conventional to champion sustainability. Born in 2014, our journey began with Chapter 1, disrupting the market with a transparent platform connecting consumers directly to local, green energy producers.

Now, in Chapter 2, we are dedicated to ensuring 100% green energy availability - 100% of the time. Think smart solutions - flexible use of wind and solar farms, Smart EV Charging, and efficient energy storage. No waiting around - we actively shape a sustainable future.

Good energy, smart solutions - that’s Vandebron.

Your Impact

The energy market is changing fast, and let’s be honest—it’s not getting any simpler for the average person. As our Product Designer for Acquisition & Retention, your mission is to cut through that complexity. You’ll own the digital gateway to Vandebron, ensuring that joining the energy transition is as frictionless as it is inspiring.

By taking charge of our website and sign-up flows, you’ll directly influence how thousands of people engage with sustainable energy. You aren’t just moving pixels; you’re balancing high-level business goals like conversion and compliance with a relentless focus on the user. Whether you’re optimizing a renewal flow or launching a brand-new proposition, your work will be the benchmark for clarity, trust, and ease of use in a challenging industry.

What you’ll do

You’ll be the design lead for your scope, moving fluidly between deep discovery and high-fidelity delivery. You won't just take "orders"—you’ll challenge solutions and advocate for the customer at every turn.

  • Lead the full design lifecycle, from initial user research and ideation to prototyping and final delivery in Figma.

  • Take the intricacies of the energy market and turn them into intuitive, easy-to-navigate digital experiences.

  • Actively contribute to and evolve the Vandebron design system, ensuring consistency while pushing the boundaries of our brand identity.

  • Collaborate daily with Product Managers and Engineers to find the sweet spot between technical feasibility and user delight.

  • Set up A/B tests and usability sessions, using hard data and human feedback to refine your designs.

  • Act as a mentor for junior and medior designers, sharing your expertise and helping foster a high-performing design culture.

  • Stay curious—we want you to explore how new technologies and AI tools can sharpen our design process.

Job requirements

What you bring

We’re looking for a seasoned designer who can operate with a high degree of independence but knows that the best products are built through collaboration. Furthermore:

  • 5+ years of experience in a digital/consumer product environment, with a portfolio that shows you can solve complex UX puzzles.

  • Mastery of Figma and a deep understanding of how to work within (and contribute to) a living design system.

  • You’re comfortable conducting usability tests and translating analytics, NPS, and A/B test results into design improvements.

  • You don't just solve the problem you're given; you make sure it's the right problem to solve.

  • You drive your work forward and don’t wait for permission to make things better.

  • You can present and defend your design decisions to stakeholders with clarity and confidence.

  • You genuinely enjoy sharing knowledge and helping those around you grow.

  • You know how to balance "perfect" design with "impactful" delivery.

What’s in it for you

  • An annual bonus based on company performance

  • 30 paid days off per year

  • Work abroad for up to 6 weeks per year (max. 4 consecutive weeks, including up to 4 weeks outside the EU)

  • A sabbatical option after three years of service (one month paid with holidays, two unpaid)

  • Special leave for personal milestones, volunteering, and an extra day for religious or personal celebrations

  • An annual €1200 learning budget plus access to Learning & Development programs

  • A solid pension scheme

  • €50 net per month for phone and Wi-Fi

  • A one-time €200 net allowance for your home workspace

  • A flexible hybrid setup between home and our carbon-neutral Amsterdam office

  • Daily free, healthy, warm, vegetarian lunches prepared by our in-house cooks

  • An NS business card if you live 10km or more from the office
