Job description
Who we are
At Vandebron, we're transforming the energy landscape, steering away from the conventional to champion sustainability. Born in 2014, our journey began with Chapter 1, disrupting the market with a transparent platform connecting consumers directly to local, green energy producers.
Now, in Chapter 2, we are dedicated to ensuring 100% green energy availability, 100% of the time. Think smart solutions: flexible use of wind and solar farms and efficient energy storage.
No waiting around, we actively shape a sustainable future. Good energy, smart solutions: that's Vandebron.
About the Role
As an Engineering Team Lead, you’ll support a team of 3 - 5 engineers (who span different crafts), while staying hands-on with the codebase. You’ll collaborate closely with the Product Owner to make sure we’re solving the right problems, and with your engineering peers to ensure we build scalable, reliable solutions.
That means, you’ll be accountable for the delivery of the team’s work - ensuring that solutions are well-implemented, timelines are realistic, and risks are raised early. As a green tech innovator, Vandebron leverages cutting-edge technologies to drive sustainability. Our backbone is powered by Scala with ZIO, running seamlessly on a Kubernetes cluster, and utilizing PostgreSQL and TimescaleDB for robust storage solutions.
Our frontend is built on React, React Native, Remix, Typescript, and Vanilla-extract.You'll report to the Manager Engineering, who will focus on your professional development through regular coaching and feedback. For architectural guidance and to ensure your work aligns with broader technical strategies, you'll collaborate closely with Staff Engineers. Your P&C Business Partner will be available for any people-related advice or support you might need. Finally, the Delivery Manager will provide clear direction on team goals and priorities.
What you’ll do
Spend a meaningful portion of your time coding or leading technical design - you decide when that’s most impactful
Collaborate in discovery: seek clarity on the problem by understanding the why before defining the what, bring in technical perspectives early, test assumptions fast
Ensure strong alignment between what the team builds and the underlying business goals
Evaluate delivery with a critical eye - help the team stay focused on outcomes, not just output
Raise technical trade-offs early and guide the team toward pragmatic, sustainable solutions
Lead the implementation of technical strategy within the team by ensuring high-quality delivery and alignment with the technical direction.
Act as the translation layer between product and engineering, helping turn product goals into actionable work through team-led backlog refinement, estimation, and coordination.
Support the team’s development through regular feedback and coaching.
Lead the performance review cycle by assessing the impact of the engineers in your team and helping define their growth plans.
Collaborate and decide, supported by the Manager Engineering - advised by People & Culture - on your team members’ growth paths, and support career development that fits both your team’s context and our broader people strategy.
Support smooth team operations by helping with essentials, like planning holidays or team logistics, so your team can stay focused on meaningful work.
